🦅 Eagles vs Heaton Mersey
Another brilliant team performance from the Eagles!
After losing the toss, we were asked to bowl first. Our opening bowlers, Mustafa A and Mustafa W, got us off to the perfect start, putting the opposition under pressure from the very first over with some disciplined bowling.
Our spinners, Sanji and Surya, kept that pressure on brilliantly, making scoring difficult throughout the middle overs.
Backed up by excellent energy and commitment in the field, the whole team worked tirelessly and bowled superbly as a unit to restrict Heaton Mersey to 111.
With the bat, we came out with positive intent, although we lost a few early wickets. Zakki stood firm and played an important innings to keep us in the game. As more wickets fell, Hasnain came in and took the attack straight to the bowlers, playing some fearless cricket and scoring quick runs to swing the momentum back in our favour.
It all came down to our lower order, where Mustafa W and Amelia showed real composure. Rotating the strike with smart singles and twos, while punishing the bad ball with boundaries, they kept the scoreboard moving. Then, with four balls remaining, Amelia struck a superb four to seal a thrilling victory for the Eagles.
