Our WRCC Under 9s ventured out into South Manchester last night to take on Hale Barns Cricket Club. 

Our captain, Timothy, found some good in the bad by celebrating losing the toss and hearing that his team would field. He was a great leader last night often suggesting tactics and giving advice to teammates who were struggling. 👏

With the ball the team were very very good. The bowling was straight and there was bounce in the wicket meaning Khalil’s pace stood out and rewarded him with wickets. One ball got wedged between the stumps (something this umpire had never seen before)!

There were also fine bowling efforts from Dhani, Nayan (who is now bowling controlled out swing), Stan (the unluckiest U9 of the season!) and Alfie. 

Eddie had an excellent all round performance bowling with pace, regularly hitting hard shots to the boundary, taking two excellent catches and having great game awareness in the field. 👏

Chasing around 80 to win our openers got us off to a great start with Timothy taking singles that no one else could see and Jimmy hitting two beautiful fours. 

Dhani and Nayan came in and blasted the ball to all boundaries with both of them hitting straight and offside sixes 💪

Eddie and Ethan came next and the runs kept flowing (6s and 4s) and then Khalil and Remi maintained the momentum with some nice timing and shots around the ground.

Our last pair saw Stan and Alfie show what we have to look forward to in the coming years, as Stan clipped a fine four through mid wicket and Alfie hit two consecutive straight and good length balls back over mid off to the boundary. All very hard shots to pull off.

We won. The boys did great. The future is  bright! 👏☀️🏏
