U9 Eagles 🦅 Vs Bowden C.C.

A loss for the Eagles, but a fine team display as Bowden took the spoils in a high-quality game.
Captain Khalil led by example, constantly backing his bowlers and bagging a sharp run out in the field.
The team's chatter and encouragement for each other throughout the innings was excellent.
The Eagles' backing up and ground fielding has improved immeasurably since the start of the season. Debutant Sam looked confident on his first outing, making some smart stops alongside Remi, Finlay, Zachary and Khalil.
Our bowling attack produced several quality overs which, on another day, would have brought far greater reward.
Yaqoob bowled with variation and twice had success with his in-swinger's which sent the Bowden bails flying.
If any builders ever need to check the accuracy of their laser level, they should give Caolan a call. He bowled an unbelievably straight spell and deserved more than his one wicket.
While you could sketch Caolan's bowling with a ruler, for Abdullah you'd need a protractor. His leg spinners turned at outrageous angles! He repeatedly beat the bat, but the fizzing spin also carried the ball past the stumps.
Bowden posted a challenging 330.
In reply, Yaqoob and Abdullah scored at better than a run a ball. Four boundaries from Yaqoob and three from Abdullah against quality bowling gave us the better of the opening exchange.
Finlay, Zachary, Sam and Caolan were then restricted by some tight bowling. But they countered with some excellent calling and running between the wickets. Sam played a couple of tidy leg-side shots, while Caolan drove beautifully through the off side for four.
Skipper Khalil then took the attack to Bowden, smashing four boundaries in an impressive knock. Remi supported him well with sharp calling and positive running between the wickets.
Against a strong Bowden attack, Whalley Range finished on a very respectable 284 - a score that would have been competitive on most days. But it was not enough this time.
Some positive words from captain Khalil and his vice-captain Finlay rounded off the evening nicely as they recognised the effort, teamwork and spirit shown by the players.
Well played, Eagles.Today was a performance you should all be proud of!
The progress made by the whole squad this season has been outstanding. Both players and parents have plenty to smile about!
