On a warm Sunday morning our U11 Lions traveled to Bowden Vale for the penultimate fixture in the South Manchester Cup.

Inserted onto a very dry wicket the Range opening batters were initially cautious while adapting to challenging conditions. Once set the runs began to flow and before long the 50 run partnership was achieved and the platform was set. Zeki retired and the middle order was held together fantastically by Yaqoob who eventually also retired - a wonderful knock with some skillful shots. Billy blasted a quick retirement before the tail wagged with Joseph scoring hastily for his retirement, including a lovely 6 over mid wicket. A target of 157 was set.

The Lions bowling was  opened by a mix of youth and experience with Adbullah and Billy miserly with good lines and lengths. This set the tone as the Bowden Vale batters toiled in the heat. Freddie on then took 2 wickets on debut, while Laila was successful bowling with good flight and accuracy, also taking 2 wickets. 

The opposition batting showed some good resilience but the target was never really challenged - 73 all out in the end 

A very pleasing result and the coaches were really impressed by the way the younger cohort performed - some wonderful talent emerging!!
